John Rayner : Technical Director

John is RedIRay’s Technical Director and since forming RedIRay with Shaun Reddin in 2006 has been working with a number of clients advising them on all matters commercial and in particular providing specialist risk management services and NEC3 contract advice. John is also responsible for RedIRay’s technical delivery to clients, setting objectives and milestones for which each project is performance managed and reported.

John has provided risk and commercial management services including the development and implementation of the new London term maintenance contracts for TfL and more recently John has been putting his NEC3 skills to good use embedding NEC3 as TfL’s contract of choice providing training and support across all the different TfL business modes.

John has a wealth of experience in the highways industry with stints at The Mouchel Group as the Senior Commercial manager in the Strategic Highways division and the Major Projects Division, previous to these roles John worked at Balfour Beatty in their Highway specialist operator Infrastructure Services (BBIS) as a quantity surveyor. John graduated in 1998 with a first class honours degree in Civil Engineering Commercial Management from Nottingham Trent University University.

John has not spent his entire career in the industry and has 10 years experience within the retail jewellery trade, during which time he became a Fellow of the Gemmological Association of Great Britain.  This has given him a different perspective with regard to the principles of working with the supply chain and he brings with him this knowledge and experience.

In his spare time John is a keen golfer and photographer.
